This recipe was given to me by a friend many years ago and continues to be one of my go to's for simple and delicious bread for my family.

Simple & Delicious Bread Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups of All Purpose Flour (my favorite is King Arthur, but any brand will work)
  • 2 Teaspoons of Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon of Active Dry Yeast
  • 1-1/2 Cups of Room Temperature Water

Directions:

  1. Combine flour, salt and yeast in a large mixing bowl
  2. Add water and mix well. Dough will be a little hard to stir and shaggy in texture.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap or a damp tea towel and let rise for 8-18 hours (I prefer to let mine rise overnight)
  4. After letting the dough rise, flour your hands and surface. Gently form the dough into a ball. Cover with a tea towel and let it rest for 1 hour.
  5. After the dough has rested for 30 minutes, preheat the oven to 450 degrees with the dutch oven inside (no lid). Preheat for 30 minutes until the dough has rested for the full 1 hour.
  6. Place the bread in the hot dutch oven and bake with the lid on for 30 minutes.
  7. After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for another 15 minutes.
  8. Let it cool on a wire rack and enjoy!
